// the ensō sonoma is the perfect base for exploring what wine country has to offer. Here are some of our favorite itineraries, but we recommend you create your own — just follow your heart!
-
Day 1
// you wake up to a hot cup of coffee on the deck at the ensō sonoma. The verdant stillness punctuated by the rhythmic drumming of Woody, our resident woodpecker, infuses you with a particular calm.
// you grab some sandwiches from the Glen Ellen Village Market and head over to Loxton Cellars. Owner/winemaker Chris Loxton gives you an amazingly detailed tour of the estate and the winemaking process. You decide to open a bottle of the Estate Syrah and have a little picnic on the estate.
// you head back to the ensō sonoma for a quick afternoon nap. Waking up fully refreshed, you are ready for dinner at the Glen Ellen Star, a Michelin guide restaurant with a focus on farm to table cooking.
// you soak in the hot tub under the canopy of oaks, redwoods and the brilliant stars. Your mind tranquil, you are ready to hit the sack.

Day 2
// you wake up early and set your yoga mat out on the deck. Your mind clear, heart content, body fully energized - you are ready to take in another amazing day in wine country.
// your first stop has to be Les Pascals. The smell of freshly baked pastries clouds your judgement and order one too many. But then again, you did start the day with a healthy bout of yoga!
// you head down to the Cornerstone Sonoma to check out Sunset’s gorgeous test gardens. Meandering through the lovely boutiques, you find yourself at the tasting room of the Obsidian Wine Co. The intensely deep red Estate Cab whets your appetite, just in time for lunch at the Folktable that takes farm to table cuisine to a different level. Fully satiated by their divine salads, you drive over to the Sonoma Plaza.
// you admire the thick adobe structure of the 200 year old Mission San Francisco Solano which keeps it perfectly cool in the hot California sun. You wonder if the lush pomegranate tree bursting with fruit symbolizes the bounty of wine country. Your philosophical rumination is rudely interrupted by a sweet smell wafting past. You follow your nose to Sweet Scoops for a dollop of their homemade ice cream.
// after a healthy dose of shopping, you settle for dinner at the Valley Bar + Bottle. Their selection of bio-dynamic wines and delightful small plates are the perfect way to end this amazing day!

Day 3
// you go for your morning walk along Sonoma Mountain road and soak up the breathtaking views of vineyard covered slopes glimmering in the rising sun. You pass by a herd of deer grazing in the golden meadow across the ensō sonoma,
// you negotiate the exhilarating trinity road across the mountain over to Oakville, the heart of Napa Valley. You drive past the hallowed grounds of Robert Mondavi to Opus One — your first tasting of the day. The olive tree lined road leading up to the well manicured lawns sloping up the building ooze sophistication. You decide to splurge and acquire an Opus One 2017.
// as you continue your sojourn up Hwy. 29, you spot the beautiful fountains of Alpha Omega. Its your lucky day - you get a table right by the water and await the Single Vineyard Cab. The wine, the vineyards, the sun glimmering through the fountains - it’s heaven!
// you decide to grab a burger at Gott’s, a retro chic take on the classic American roadside stand. You walk into the beautiful town of St. Helena and admire the little boutiques. You peek into the New West Knifeworks and wonder if it’s a knife shop or an art gallery. Maybe a cup of coffee will help you decide.
// you drive down to Yountville, the birthplace of Napa Valley wine. You grab that much needed coffee and a pastry at Bouchon Bakery. As you walk down the leafy streets, passing by interesting sculptures, you stumble upon a farm. What an odd location for a farm? It then dawns upon you that the discrete little place across the street is the legendary French Laundry. You try in vain to get a reservation and finally settle for an Instagram moment instead.
// your last winery of the day is Darioush, whose grounds are inspired by the ancient city of Persepolis. After savoring a luscious Cab, its time to head back. You have dinner at the Farmstead before heading back to the ensō sonoma. What a day!
